The day before Derby is known as Oaks Day, and the Oaks race is the big race for female horses. People get all done up in lots of pink, and there’s a big fashion show, and it’s a super fun day! And just like the Derby has the Mint Julep, the Oaks has the Lily. In my personal opinion, the Lily is a far superior drink to the Mint Julep. It’s cranberry juice, vodka, triple sec, and sweet and sour. Not too sweet, but just sweet enough.
Do you guys watch Scandal? I discovered it mid-Season 3 and immediately binge-watched the first two seasons on Netflix (I think I got through them all in, like, 2 weeks) and impatiently waited for the third season to be available for binging. Once I caught up, I watched weekly…religiously. I could not get enough.
I love Valentine’s Day! I know it’s known as a “Hallmark Holiday,” but I love a holiday about LOVE! Growing up, Valentine’s Day was the holiday where my parents would hide candy and cards all over the house, and all day my brother and I would continue to find new surprises. I am not a New England Patriots fan, but I live in Boston where making that statement is frowned upon. (My husband is already not happy with this post!!!) This will be my third Super Bowl since moving to Boston, and the second of those in which the Patriots are playing. So although I am not a fan, it is only right that my Super Bowl dessert is inspired by the Patriots.
I love that hard ciders are so widely available these days. Cider is such a great fall flavor and goes well with so many other fall flavors. And now you can even get different seasonal cider flavors year round!
