St. Patrick’s Day Treats

A bar made out of lucky charms and bailey's marshmallows on a round white plate

When I lived in Louisville, the St. Patrick’s Day parade was one of my favorite days of the year.  Since moving to Boston, though, I have avoided the parade.  I hear it gets a bit rowdy in Southie! But the chaos of the celebrations doesn’t keep me from making a delicious themed dessert every year! And you know I love a good theme!  Two years ago I made this to-die-for Irish Coffee Cake with Irish whiskey, and last year I made these super fun Pots O’ Gold with Guinness.  I decided to change it up again this year to make these insanely easy St. Patrick’s Day treats! They’re like a Rice Krispie treat, but instead of Rice Krispies, they use Lucky Charms, and instead of marshmallows, you make a homemade Bailey’s fluff! Continue Reading

Chocolate Cherry Brownies

When I have a great idea for a recipe and it fails in testing, I despise throwing away the failure.  I hate to waste all those ingredients!  But these chocolate cherry brownies came about from two failed recipes with almost nothing going to waste and that makes me extra proud of these!

I know a lot of people hate Valentine’s Day or think it’s a made-up holiday, but it’s one of my absolute favorites.  I find myself defending it year after year as one of the best holidays. Aside from the delicious candy, what’s better than an added excuse to tell people how much you love them? Growing up, Valentine’s Day was the holiday where my mom would hide cards and gifts all over the house and all throughout our stuff so we would find cards and candy all day long.  It was the best.  It’s a tradition I’ve tried to carry on (as best as it can be in our tiny downtown apartment).

Boston is one of the most historical cities in the U.S. and as you walk through the city it is so apparent.  There are so many historical sites.  So many, in fact, that there is a walking trail you can follow through the city to hit some of the biggest historical spots.  There’s the Boston Tea Party, and Paul Revere, and the Boston Massacre. There’s the Bunker Hill Monument, the U.S.S. Constitution, and the Boston Common.  There’s Harvard University and Fenway Park. Every single thing in Boston has quite a history.  But there is a much lesser known story in Boston’s history.  More specifically, in the North End of Boston (also known as Boston’s Little Italy). Stout Beer Football Super Bowl Brownies

I cannot believe it’s already 2019.  2018 was such a great year.  Like any year, it definitely had some big downs, but it also had a lot of ups.  I have a lot of high hopes for 2019. It seems like as soon as January 1st hit, the stores were covered in pink and red and Valentine’s day was everywhere.  And I love Valentine’s day.  It’s one of my favorite holidays!  But before Valentine’s day gets here, we have another exciting holiday: Super Bowl Sunday! Super Bowl Sunday is all about beer, football, and food, so I have combined all of those things to bring you the perfect Super Bowl Brownies: Stout Beer Football Brownies.
