I have never been a fan of spicy foods. I don’t understand why people want to eat foods that cause physical pain. But recently I discovered that often those spicy foods also have a really delicious flavor. I decided I needed to build my tolerance to spice because I am missing out on so many amazing foods and flavors by avoiding it.

I can’t believe it’s already August and kids are already starting to go back to school! This summer has been so busy and has totally flown by. Happy summer! I am so glad summer is finally here. My favorite thing about summer is the abundance of fruit. I get so burnt out on apples in the fall and winter, so when the bright, colorful fruits start popping up I get so excited. One of my favorite summer flavors is peach.

The day before Derby is known as Oaks Day, and the Oaks race is the big race for female horses. People get all done up in lots of pink, and there’s a big fashion show, and it’s a super fun day! And just like the Derby has the Mint Julep, the Oaks has the Lily. In my personal opinion, the Lily is a far superior drink to the Mint Julep. It’s cranberry juice, vodka, triple sec, and sweet and sour. Not too sweet, but just sweet enough.
