It’s the week between Christmas and New Year’s and I have lost all track of time and days. We spent our Christmas at Getaway House and it was so refreshing to just disconnect and do nothing for a couple of days. If you have a Getaway anywhere near you, I can’t recommend it enough. I’m so excited to start planning for 2019 (and as I write this, I realize that I’m very far behind since I’m just now starting to plan…) and to bring you more easy and delicious recipes to impress your friends and families with as few dishes and as little work as possible!
I didn’t celebrate Christmas growing up. I got my first Christmas tree after I moved in with my best friend when I was in law school. I first celebrated Christmas with my now-husband a year or two into our relationship. I had this picture in my head of what waking up on Christmas morning should be like: wake up, look out the window to see if it had snowed, bake cinnamon rolls (from the tube, of course) and brew coffee while we sit on the floor in our PJs and bathrobes and exchange gifts. I’ve been on a real Williams Sonoma kick recently. I mean, I’ve always loved their stuff, but recently I’ve been unable to stop myself from making a purchase every single time I walk through the door. It started when I went in early November and they were giving out samples of the most delicious stuffing and gravy that I have ever tasted! So good that we had to buy both products. We also got to sample THREE types of peppermint bark: regular peppermint bark, dark chocolate peppermint bark, and salted peppermint bark.
We’re right in the midst of the chaos that is the holiday season! It is such a fun time of year, but I always feel like I’m falling behind on everything! Which is why I am here, in December, after you’re probably all burnt out on pumpkin pie, to bring you a brand new pumpkin pie recipe! Now I know it’s more of a Thanksgiving dessert, but today is a very special occasion for which this recipe would be perfect…not that Pie Thursday wouldn’t be a winning idea! Continue Reading
Earlier this summer my husband discovered a spot in the middle of nowhere New Hampshire to unplug, disconnect, and refresh. With everything we have going on I was hesitant to book a reservation, but there was only one weekend left with openings for the summer so we did it. YOU GUYS. I cannot recommend this enough. We went to a place called Getaway House. They have locations outside of Boston, New York, and D.C. and it is worth every single penny.
