Peanut Butter Pumpkin Sweet Potato Pupcakes

Peanut Butter Pumpkin Sweet Potato Pupcakes stacked on top of a gold wire rack on top of a marbled surface

THIS POST CONTAINS DOG PHOTOS! I thought that might get your attention. My dog, Gizmo, has a birthday coming up at the end of the month. I love to celebrate his birthday by spoiling him with special birthday treats, most often homemade cupcakes, which I like to refer to as pupcakes! There are so many different dog-friendly cupcakes (though always check with your vet before giving your dog people-foods) and my dogs like them all. This particular recipe is for Peanut Butter Pumpkin Sweet Potato Pupcakes.

Sangria Hamentaschen

A pile of sangria hamentaschen sangria hamentashen on a white marble surface with spatters of filling on the marble

Growing up Jewish, we always had Hamentaschen after Purim services. They were always filled with boring flavors, my least favorite of which happened to be the most common – poppyseed. I remember all the adults loved the poppyseed ones, and they are the traditional flavor, but who wants a pie crust filled with poppyseed? Certainly not me! The others were filled with various flavors of fruit jams, but they were just basic, boring jam flavors. Every now and then there was a chocolate-filled option, and in all honesty, that was the only one worth eating. Until now. Because I’ve created a jam filling that will up your hamentaschen game: Sangria Hamentaschen!

Pina Colada Upside Down Cupcakes

Here in Boston we’re expecting our third nor’easter in a row this week. The first one was all rain, the next one was a few inches of snow, so who knows what to expect this week! But today was spring forward so that means spring is close, right?  Well, I know that Easter is just a few weeks away.  And so is Passover.  Those mean spring, right?! These Piña Colada Upside Down Cupcakes are not Passover friendly (check out my Passover cookie cake inspired by Molly Yeh!), but they are super delicious and they just scream spring! Funfetti Hamantaschen

Sprinkles for Funfetti Hamantaschen

I remember making hamentaschen with my mom when I was younger, but I haven’t made them in years because I’m usually not a huge fan of the cookie. For those who don’t know, hamentaschen are triangle shaped cookies that represent the villain, Haman, of the Jewish holiday, Purim. They are usually similar to a shortbread cookie and are filled with a fruit or poppyseed filling.  As a dessert, it’s just never been the type of cookie that excites me.  So I decided to jazz it up and make one that does excite me: Funfetti Hamantaschen!
