Bourbon Pumpkin Pie
We’re right in the midst of the chaos that is the holiday season! It is such a fun time of year, but I always feel like I’m falling behind on everything! Which is why I am here, in December, after you’re probably all burnt out on pumpkin pie, to bring you a brand new pumpkin pie recipe! Now I know it’s more of a Thanksgiving dessert, but today is a very special occasion for which this recipe would be perfect…not that Pie Thursday wouldn’t be a winning idea!
Tonight is the season premiere of Top Chef and this season’s location is none other than my home state of Kentucky! I haven’t been this excited for a season of Top Chef since the couple dessert seasons way back when. (Yo, Bravo, when can we get another one of those?!) I’m a little disappointed to hear that there is only one Kentucky chef on the season because Louisville is an amazing food city with some insanely talented, amazing chefs, but I’m excited to root for a hometown winner!
I love bringing a taste of the south to my recipes. One of my favorites is my Kentucky Sweet Potato Pie, but many, many years ago, I found a Bourbon Pumpkin Pie recipe on a website that doesn’t appear to still exist. Since I found it, I’ve made it here and there over the years, of course with my own touches and tweaks, and then this past holiday season, I think I made that pie 5 or 6 times just in October and November. I couldn’t believe with all the times I’ve made this pie, that I haven’t shared my version of the recipe with you. It’s SO easy! Like ridiculously easy. Like possibly the easiest recipe I have yet. All you need is a mixing bowl and a whisk!
So now is the time to make Pie Thursday a thing! Or maybe just have Top Chef watch parties and enjoy all of these delicious southern desserts!
