Raspberry Basil Hot Chocolate
Can you believe that Valentine’s Day is already right around the corner?! How better to impress your sweetheart than with this super easy but super impressive Raspberry Basil Hot Chocolate. I mean, doesn’t it just sound fancy?! Also raspberry and chocolate together seem like a perfect Valentine’s Day flavor combination!
Now if you’re hesitant about this flavor, I totally get it, but I’d also ask you to trust me. This flavor was inspired by a dessert made on the Holiday Baking Championship. The contestant made a raspberry basil dessert that sat on top of a chocolate brownie. And the judges loved it! I figure if the flavor combination worked for them, it would work for hot chocolate.
When I was first writing this recipe, I wasn’t sure about buying raspberries in the winter, and hot chocolate isn’t exactly what you’re looking for in the summer. Then I discovered canned raspberries. I had no idea such a thing existed! But they make for the perfect flavor addition to hot chocolate.
I’m honestly so surprised by how much I enjoyed this flavor combination. The raspberry flavor is not too overpowering, and there is just a hint of basil – enough to taste, but not too much!
